Prince Charles and Prince William didn't have the same experience as Prince Harry in the royal family. So the heir apparent and the second in line to the throne, who are both future kings, were allegedly livid when the Duke of Sussex said that they were trapped in the royal family.
Prince Charles And Prince William 'Very Angry' After Prince Harry Speak For Them
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had a sit-down interview with Oprah Winfrey last year for a CBS special. During the bombshell tell-all, the pair made several allegations against the royal family.
Meghan Markle said a member of the royal family raised concern about their unborn child's complexion. Prince Harry also claimed that Prince William and Prince Charles were trapped in the system, but unlike him, they couldn't leave.
"I am part of the system with them, I always have been, but I guess—and I’m very aware of this—my brother can’t leave that system, but I have. My father and my brother are trapped. They don’t get to leave, and I have huge compassion for that," Prince Harry said.
Royal expert Richard Jobson claimed that Kate Middleton's husband does not feel that way. Both Prince William and Prince Charles "were both angry" about what Prince Harry said, according to Jobson.
"I don’t think he’s [William] ever felt like that," the Prince Philip's Century author said on Royally Us podcast, per Express. "I think Harry was putting words into his father and his brother’s mouths, and maybe making an assessment based upon his feelings. They were both very angry about that, both Charles and William."
Jobson added, "I don’t think it’s true, I don’t think he felt trapped in any way."
Prince Charles And Prince William Happier Than Prince Harry With The Royal Family
Royal biographer Lady Colin Campbell shared the same opinion as Jobson. According to her, the Duke of Cambridge and Prince of Wales are actually happier than the Duke of Sussex with the royal family. Just like Jobson, the Diana in Private author doesn't think the future kings feel trapped as what Prince Harry claimed.
"When people embrace their destiny and live up to their responsibilities, their duties, they are happy. That is what fulfillment is partly about," Campbell said, referring to how the heir apparent and second in line to the throne have embraced their future roles in the monarchy, on her YouTube channel.
"You cannot be genuinely fulfilled if you are hawking your wares to the highest bidder. Altruism and prostitution are not very comfortable bedfellows nor is betraying yourself and your ideals and the requirements of your destiny for worldly gain."
