Power Rangers Movie Getting A Sequel From Hasbro

Saban's Power Rangers might have flopped at the box office and received pretty mixed reviews from fans and critics, but it looks like Hasbro hasn't given up on the idea of another Power Rangers movie just yet.

Back in June, word came out that Hasbro had officially sealed the deal in acquiring the Power Rangers franchise from Saban Brands. Now, according to a recent report taken from licensing.org, Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner has opened up about the plans the company has for their newly acquired franchise, saying they would like to capitalize on the Power Rangers as much as they can.

According to Goldner, Hasbro will begin with a "transitional" period starting 2019 where the company will release "new entertainment content and licensed products" related to Power Rangers in the next year. The new content includes plans for a sequel to the 2017 Power Rangers film with the report stating that the film has "significant opportunity for growth given where the brand had been most recently."

This is certainly interesting news for Power Rangers fans. No one really expected Saban's Power Rangers to get a sequel, especially after the mixed reviews and the poor results at the box office. One mediocre film doesn't spell the end of the Power Rangers' future on the big screen, not when the franchise has tons of years and lore to draw from.

The Power Rangers sequel doesn't have a release date yet, but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
