There are lots of anime about sports or music, but Pole Princess!! is unique for putting the spotlight on pole dancing. After the net animation’s run ended back in April, fans can look forward to the Pole Princess!! anime film, which got a new trailer.
The movie’s new trailer was shared just two months before its release, and it gives fans a taste of what to expect.
This trailer also reveals that the film will feature a different animation style compared to the anime series.
Pole Princess!! ONA Is Getting an Anime Film
Pole Princess!! is not a typical anime series that has 24-minute episodes. Instead, it’s a short original net animation (ONA) where each episode is only around 5 to 7 minutes long.
The series was released on YouTube for free in December 2022. While its length makes it seem comparable to something like Isekai Quartet, its 3D animation style makes it feel quite different from other shows.
3D animation was used as the series depicts some detailed pole dancing moves, though its 3D style isn’t as fluid for the non-dancing parts.
It may not have gotten a lot of buzz online during its run, but the series has become successful enough that an anime film was announced to release in Japanese cinemas this November.
This upcoming film stars the same characters from the ONA. It also brings back the stacked voice cast of the series, including VAs like Saori Hayami (Yor in Spy x Family) and Rie Kugimiya (Taiga in Toradora!), among others.

Pole Princess!! Anime Movie Gets Trailer Ahead of November Release
The upcoming film is simply titled Pole Princess!! the Movie and the new trailer reveals that it will feature a hybrid animation style that’s markedly more anime-like than the series.
Specifically, the new trailer shows that many parts of the film will be animated in 2D. Meanwhile, the pole dancing parts will continue to be animated in 3D.
Along with the trailer, a visual for the film was also shared, featuring the main cast of dancers.
The transitions in the trailer might seem a bit jarring given the sharp contrast between the two styles. But a hybrid animation style has been pulled off before, so it’ll be interesting to see if Pole Princess!! does it well.
Pole Princess!! the Movie will be released in Japan on November 23, 2023. Currently, there’s no word yet on international release plans.
