Pokemon Sword and Shield Might Have Autosaving for the First Time Ever

Pokemon Sword and Shield will be the first mainline RPGs coming to Nintendo Switch, with most fans excited for the latest installments, aside from those National Pokedex stans. The two games will have many firsts for the franchise, such as the first Pokemon games to hit a mainline Nintendo console, amongst other features. However, the latest trailer also revealed a first that fans have been clamoring for: autosave.

That's right, Sword and Shield might actually have autosave for the very first time in a Pokemon game. Some would say that this makes the franchise a bit dated when compared to other games and it's not a wrong statement to make. I mean, we still don't have a mainline Pokemon game that allows players to make multiple save files. Come on Game Freak.

Still, autosaving shows that these Pokemon games will have more quality of life improvements. Knowing that the game will save every time we go to a Pokemon Center will be seen as a relief to many of us, especially if we're low on battery. Here's hoping that the two games have even more improvements like this (PLEASE ADD MULTIPLE SAVE FILES).

If I'm being honest, the two games do look good but don't seem to match the originality we had in Pokemon Sun and Moon. Adding Raid Battles and Wild Areas that have Pokemon we can actually see in the environment are very good starts, but conceptually, it seems like we're a trainer who collects badges and wants to be the very best that no one ever was.

I hope we get more originality.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are coming out on November 15.
