Pokemon Sword and Shield Confirms Customisable Trainers in an Unusual Way

Pokemon Sword and Shield are the latest installments in this long-running RPG series, so fans were wondering which features from previous games would return and what would get cut. Well, thanks to a t-shirt contest from Uniqlo, fans now know that the customizable trainer feature is confirmed for the two games. While most of us saw that coming, the fact that it hadn't been revealed until now was a bit confusing.

Reported by Serebii, both Uniqlo and The Pokemon Company confirmed the feature when they revealed the contest's winner. This person's Gyarados and Magikarp shirt will be purchasable within the game. Fans can also pick it up in Uniqlo if they get the chance, though many of us are hoping that it gets an international release.

Some would argue that this feature was confirmed when the trainer in Sword and Shield's trainer walked towards the Pokemon League with soccer clothes but nothing was proven then. For all we knew, that could have been required clothes for the player to wear for this event, though that's a bit far-fetched.

Pokemon Sword and Shield will be the first official entries to hit the Nintendo Switch and are scheduled for a fall 2019 release. Pokemon Let's Go! Pikachu and Let's Go! Eevee are technically spin-off titles since the GO-inspired catching mechanics will not be in Sword and Shield.
