Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution Director Understands Everyone's Concerns With CGI

Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution is a CGI remake of Pokemon The First Movie and fans are pretty conflicted about it. While the CGI isn't horrible, some of the characters have translated awkwardly to the new technology and fans seem to be more content with their copies of the original film. It seems like Director Kunihiko Yuyama is aware of the concern, as he has admitted to worrying about the movie's quality.

Speaking with ComicBook.com, Yuyama admitted that directing a CGI remake feels like they're making a Pokemon film for the first time, even though he has done more than a dozen. They are using CGI technology to create a whole film after all since something like I Choose You only has parts of the movie use CGI.

Here's his full statement:

"So this is actually one of over 20 Pokemon films. However, this is first time we have done full 3D computer generated animation. And so even though we've done over 20 Pokemon movies, it feels like this is the first time. And I was so worried that this was just going to be a flop and that people weren't going to like it. And I want to ask you, "Did you like it?"

Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back Evolution was released back on July 12. The movie doesn't have a Western release yet but will probably get one soon.
