Pokemon Let's Go! Might Be Junichi Masuda's Final Pokemon Game

Junichi Masuda is a name many Pokemon fans should be familiar with, composing the music for almost all of the games and actually directing some of them. Some of his more notable titles are Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen, Diamond and Pearl, Black and White, and more. He also produced some of the other Pokemon games not listed here like the critically acclaimed Sun and Moon games for the 3DS.

Since he also directed Pokemon GO for mobile devices, it made sense for him to follow-up on that with Pokemon Lets Go! Pikachu and Let's Go! Eevee for the Nintendo Switch. Interestingly enough, during an interview with Pokemon.com, he stated that this might be the last mainline game in the series that he directs. It seems like he will still be open to spin-offs but this is a sad day for some fans.

"But at the same time, it's important to have the younger generation at GAME FREAK take over the development of Pokémon as a series. I do believe this will probably be, in terms of the main Pokémon RPGs, the last time that I work as the director."

It will be sad seeing Masuda go as a director since he has been so influential but it's nice seeing him talk about the new generation in Game Freak having to step up. There's also something poetic about having one of his last mainline games be a pseudo-remake of the first games that were made for the series.

Pokemon Let's Go! Pikachu and Let's Go! Eevee are coming to the Nintendo Switch on November 16.
