Pokemon GO Halloween Event Announced, Includes Cute Costumes for Your Favorites

As expected, Pokemon GO is getting a Halloween event and Niantic has given us a number of details on how the seasonal promo will go. The event starts this Thursday on October 17 and it's going to be jam-packed with content for players, including more Pokemon to rescue from Team Rocket and some of your favorite Pocket Monsters in Halloween costumes so cute that you will die.

The Pokemon you can rescue from Team Rocket this time around are Weedle, Kakuna, Beedrill, Electabuzz, Magmar, Lapras, Mareep, Seedot, Nuzleaf, Sableye, Trapinch, Cacnea, Shuppet, and Duskull. That's a nice mix of Pokemon from various generations and it's going to be fun seeing which of them players will encounter.

Now for the costumed Pokemon. Niantic has confirmed that players will be able to see Pikachu in a Mimikyu costume in the wild, while Bulbasaur as Shedinja, Charmander as Cubone, and Squirtle as Yamask will be special Pokemon in raids. It's a shame that the costumed Kanto starters won't be wild Pokemon but it does give players a new reason to enter raids, which is always something to enjoy.

If that wasn't enough, Niantic has confirmed that Darkrai will be making its GO debut in five-star raids. In addition to that big debut, there will also be more Ghost-type and Dark-type Pokemon to catch, all in the spirit of Halloween. There's a lot to enjoy here and fans who still play the game should be excited to see all of this.

Pokemon GO is now available on iOS and Android.
