It has been over a year now since the anime aired, so it’s a bit of a surprise that HIDIVE announced the release of a Phantom of the Idol English dub.
HIDIVE announced that the anime’s English dub will be released on the platform later this week. Along with its release, the show’s complete English dub voice cast has been revealed.
HIDIVE Announces Phantom of the Idol English Dub Cast
Phantom of the Idol is a comedy anime that aired during the Summer 22 season. This series was made by Studio Gokumi, the studio behind titles such as The Dreaming Boy Is a Realist and World’s End Harem.
Anime English dub releases are typically aired with a delay of a few weeks. There are some cases where shows get English dubs a month or so after the original Japanese dub’s release.
An anime rarely gets an English dub after one year, but that’s the case with Phantom of the Idol.
Along with its November release date, HIDIVE revealed the following English dub voice cast members:
- Kiba Walker (Makio Tanihara in Horimiya) as Yuya Niyodo
- Shanae'a Moore (Erika Kano in Shirobako) as Asahi Mogami
- Ry McKeand (Belaf in Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun) as Kazuki Yoshino
- Shelley Calene-Black (Ais Wallenstein in DanMachi) as Hitomi Shinano
- Christina Kelly (Alice Nakiri in Food Wars!) as Kasenjiki
- Alyssa Marek (Antarcticite in Land of the Lustrous) as Tsugiko
- Annie Wild (Beta in The Eminence in Shadow) as Shigutaro
- Bobby Haworth (Furion in Reincarnated as a Sword) as Hikaru Setouchi
- Cole Feuchter (Asakura in Ishida and Asakura) as Chihiro Misaki
- Jack Stansbury (Aquamarine Hoshino in Oshi no Ko) as Akira Uchihama
- Jeran Ugokwe (Mingyang Lei in Shenmue the Animation) as Yukinari Nada
- Nathan Wilson (Ataru Moroboshi in Urusei Yatsura) as Homare Hakata
- Jack Ivy (Michitaka in Log Horizon) as Narrator

Phantom of the Idol Anime English Dub Premieres on November 23
The anime’s story follows Yuya Niyodo, an idol who is a member of the two-man group ZINGS. He is in danger of being fired due to his laziness.
One day, Yuya encounters the ghost of Asahi Mogami, an idol who passed away a year ago. Due to Yuya’s laziness in performing, he lets Asahi possess his body during performances.
The Phantom of the Idol’s English dub will be released on HIDIVE in the US and other select regions on November 23, 2023.
It’s not clear if all 10 episodes of the anime will be available on the 23rd. At least, fans won’t have to wait much longer to find out.
