Peyton Reed Does Not Hate Ant-Man Villain Yellowjacket

It looks like we're tackling another case of "misquoted in an interview." This often happens since fans usually judge someone's take on a movie or character based on the headline, sometimes not actually reading the article link. Peyton Reed looks to be the latest victim of this, with reports claiming that he didn't like Yellowjacket as the villain for the first Ant-Man movie.

Reed has cleared the news on his Twitter, saying he was not only misquoted but does indeed love Yellowjacket and actor Corey Stoll's performance for the villain.

The specific quote in question was the one below, showing how long Ant-Man had been in production. Many fans know that the movie was in development hell for some time and was even slated to be an early MCU film, though that didn't pan out. Reed was actually the second director for the project, with Scott Pilgrim director Edgar Wright originally pegged to helm it, though he does still have a credit for it.

"The villain in [Ant-Man] felt like a bit of a vestige from the era in which that project was started, [which was] around the time of Iron Man one, where you have an antagonist who has a similar power set [as the hero]. I was hell bent on doing something different."

Admittedly, Darren Cross was a bit of a bland villain. He is leagues above Malekith from Thor: The Dark World but is nowhere near as interesting as someone like Vulture or Killmonger. He definitely won't be remembered by most, so here is hoping Ghost from the sequel is treated better.

Ant-Man and The Wasp will hit theaters this week, on July 6.
