Peter Jackson On The Rumors That He’s Directing A Movie For The DCEU

DC fans might have been a bit excited when they heard the word that The Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson might actually helm a DC movie, however it turns out the rumors don't even hold an ounce of truth.

Jackson just recently went on an interview with French news outlet Allocine (translated by Screen Rant) and during his discussion with the publication, the actor was asked about the report that he might actually direct a film in the DC Extended Universe. Unfortunately, it seems like the fantasy director isn't interested in the franchise at all, saying that he isn't a comic book fan and hasn't gone on talks with Warner Bros. about developing a film for DC.

"That's not true. I had no discussions about that. I'm not a fan of comics, I've never read any, so I'm not particularly interested in adapting one for cinema. That's not true at all."

It's such a shame that Jackson isn't the least bit interested in the DCEU. The director would have been a great addition and we're pretty sure that he'd be able to help the franchise find its footing. Warner Bros. just recently joined the universe-building game in an attempt to compete with Marvel Studios and though the studio knows how to cast its actors, it's been having a lot of trouble with its films. We're just hoping that the DCEU finally finds a way to get on its feet.

The DCEU's next film, Aquaman, is set to premiere on December 21, 2018.
