Pet Sematary TV Spot Teases Terrifying New Zelda Goldman

If you've read Stephen King's Pet Sematary or its 1989 live-action adaptation, you're already aware of how terrifying Zelda Goldman can be. Not surprisingly, the new TV spot for the 2019 film has confirmed that Zelda is back and she's scarier than ever.

The TV spot already features most of the footage that appeared in the movie trailer. However, we also get a horrifying glimpse at Zelda and her misshapen back crawling towards Rachel Creed (Amy Seimetz).

Zelda might look scary but she is one of the most unfortunate Stephen King characters in existence. The young girl actually died of spinal meningitis in the novel long before the story takes place but appears in Rachel's flashbacks. It was Zelda's death that traumatized Rachel as a child because she ended up watching her own sister die in their house.

In the 1989 adaptation, Zelda was actually portrayed by a male actor because the producers couldn't find a girl who was bony enough to play the character. Nevertheless, the performance of actor Andrew Hubatsek proved to be one of the scariest moments in the movie.

The synopsis for Pet Sematary reads as follows:

"Dr. Louis Creed and his wife, Rachel, relocate from Boston to rural Maine with their two young children. The couple soon discover a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his neighbor Jud Crandall, setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unspeakable evil with horrific consequences."

The movie is directed by Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer. It stars Jason Clarke as Louis Creed and John Lithgow as Jud Crandall.

Pet Sematary is scheduled for release on April 5.
