The Percy Jackson reboot is finally moving forward! Author and producer Rick Riordan has just confirmed that casting for the three primary characters has begun and shared an update on the new Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, and Grover Underwood!
Rick Riordan has been actively sharing updates on the Percy Jackson reboot for some time now considering that he will be heavily involved in the project. This involvement would include finding the right actors who will play the main trio.
Riordan shared the latest update on the reboot on his blog. The author confirmed that he had met with a few young actors who were auditioning for the roles.
"On Saturday, we headed to the Disney Studios in Burbank for some in-person chemistry read auditions for Percy Jackson. This means we brought together different combinations of young actors we had identified as interesting candidates for the roles of Percy, Annabeth and Grover, and had them read through scenes together to see how they interacted," Riordan wrote.
"It was informative and exciting, and though we have come to no decisions yet, the process is moving along well. Seeing these actors taking on the roles in person made me appreciate once again just how talented and capable middle school kids can be when given a chance to shine," he added. "They were all amazing."
It's great to know that we could soon meet the new Percy, Annabeth, and Grover but fans clearly have one other thing in mind. People have long been campaigning for original Percy Jackson star Logan Lerman to be cast as the new Poseidon in the reboot. There has been no official word about this yet but we're hoping it will eventually be announced once the main trio has been cast.
The Percy Jackson reboot has not yet been given an official release date but is expected to premiere on Disney+ soon. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
