Percy Jackson and the Olympians has yet to be released on Disney Plus, and yet series author Rick Riordan has already confirmed writing Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2.
Based on Riordan's best-selling fantasy novel series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a complete reboot from the 2009 films starring Logan Lerman. The Disney+ reboot plans on extending what the movies missed, which is why the reboot is being made into a whole new TV series, instead. Now, on Riordan's personal website, RickRiordan.com, the author has officially confirmed that Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1 is in post-production.
“The first season of Disney+’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians is now in post-production.” Riordan wrote, “This means we’ve finished all the filming and are editing the episodes — choosing scenes, putting them together, adding the music and special effects — all massive undertakings that require many months of work.”
While Riordan also confirms there is currently no final release date yet, he sheds light on working in advance on Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2: “Meanwhile, we have started work on the writers’ room for season two. This does NOT mean the second season has been green-lit yet. It’s too early for that.” Riordan added, “But we have been approved to start developing scripts, and I think everyone’s expectation is that a second season will happen if all goes as planned. It sure is exciting to be part of the room, though.

Seeing that Riordan's Percy Jackson reboot is set to focus each season on each separate books in the series, Season 1 would center around The Lightning Thief, while Season 2 pretty much transitions to The Sea of Monsters: “We’ve broken down the action of the second Percy Jackson book, The Sea of Monsters, into a series of episodes, and have begun outlining what the first episodes would look like.”
As Riordan has reiterated, Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2 has not been greenlit yet, however, the sooner they finish the scripts, the sooner they get to finish it, which potentially means getting Season 2 earlier than expected! Though ultimately, it would still depend on how well-received Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1 is.
