Rick Riordan's biggest wish is finally coming true this December 20 when the first episodes of Percy Jackson and the Olympians premiere on Disney Plus. However, before fans can enjoy the series to the fullest, how old is Percy Jackson in the Disney series?
How Old is Percy Jackson?
One of the best things about the Percy Jackson books is the fact that it's a middle-schooler's explainer behind the Greek gods and goddesses, a modern take on the existence of half-bloods becoming heroes.
Considering that the main protagonists are likely middle-schoolers, too, how old is Percy Jackson? Well, in the book, he is depicted as a 12-year-old boy, and by the end of the story, he's 16 years old.
Does this mean he's also 12 years old in the Disney series? Pretty much.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1 will be grappling with how Percy discovers his true identity of being the half-blood son of Poseidon and taking his place at Camp Half-Blood.
The official Disney Plus site confirmed that Season 1 will be about "the story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson."
Here's another fun fact about the Disney series: did you know that Walker Scobell, aka The Adam Project star playing the titular character, is close to Percy's age? Born in January 2009, Scobell is 14 years old, merely two years older than his character.

Walker Scobell on Playing Percy Jackson in the Disney Series
Recently speaking with Screen Rant, Walker Scobell touches a bit on what difference this Disney Plus version of Percy Jackson that fans can hope to see on its premiere date:
"I think [Percy Jackson's] sense of humor. A sense of humor is very important to his character, and I think I have a very similar sense of humor to him."
Before getting cast as the beloved demigod, Walker Scobell's sense of humor was revealed during the behind-the-scenes of The Adam Project, more specifically when he admitted to being a huge fan of Deadpool — the movies, the anti-hero, and Ryan Reynolds.
We're already stoked to see him put his own spin on Percy Jackson this holiday season!
Meanwhile, the official synopsis for Percy Jackson and the Olympians series reads:
Percy Jackson & the Olympians tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who's just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt. Now, Percy must trek across America to find it and restore order to Olympus.
