Pedro Pascal Describes Maxwell Lord in Wonder Woman 1984 as Embodiment of American Greed

Star Wars fans might know Pedro Pascal as the Mandalorian in Jon Favreau's Star Wars live-action series The Mandalorian, but DC fans are going to know the Game of Thrones star as Maxwell Lord, a shrewd and powerful businessman set to appear in Wonder Woman 1984.

While we can't be entirely sure what kind of role Maxwell Lord is going to play in the Wonder Woman sequel (in the comics Lord was an important part in the formation of Justice League International), Pascal describes the character as the embodiment of American Greed.

The Narcos actor just recently spoke in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, and during the discussion with the entertainment news outlet, Pascal was asked to describe his character in Wonder Woman 1984.

According to Pascal, Maxwell Lord is the ultimate businessman.

"Max is a dream-seller," Pascal told the publication, "It's this character who encompasses a component of the era which is, you know, ‘Get whatever want, however you can. You're entitled to it!' And at any cost, ultimately, which represents a huge part of our culture and this kind of unabashed — it's greed," he breaks off, laughing. "It's f—ing greed, of course. But it's also about ‘How do you be your best self? How do you win?' So he's definitely the face of that version of success."

We can't wait to see how Lord plays in the film. Many suspects that Lord is going to be a villain in the Wonder Woman sequel, though we can't be quite sure whether the businessman is going to be the main baddy of the movie or whether he's going to be small fry next to Kristen Wiig's Barbar Minerva/ Cheetah.

Wonder Woman 1984 premieres June 5, 2020.
