Peacemaker's John Cena to Star in Looney Tunes Movie Coyote Vs. Acme

Thanks to The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, John Cena has been propelled to success and he has proved that he is slowly becoming one of the most in-demand actors today who is booking several projects left and right. Now, it look who will be doing several projects left and right. Now, it looks like the wrestler-turned-actor has found himself another high-profile project that he is going to star next.

Deadline has reported that Cena is set to star in Warner Bros.' Looney Tunes live-action/animated hybrid film Coyote Vs. Acme. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows director Dave Green is set to helm from a screenplay by Samy Burch based on the Looney Tunes characters and the New Yorker article “Coyote v. Acme” by Ian Frazier. James Gunn, who of course Cena worked with on The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker, will serve as one of the producers.

The film will follow "Wile E. Coyote, who after ACME products fail him one too many times in his dogged pursuit of the Road Runner, decides to hire a billboard lawyer to sue the ACME Corporation. The case pits Wile E. and his lawyer against the latter’s intimidating former boss (Cena), but a growing friendship between man and cartoon stokes their determination to win."

The news came just after the second season renewal of Peacemaker so it looks like Cena is going to be very busy for the next several months. It is an interesting project for him to star since he will be playing the villain (at least as the logline suggested) and he could also show his comedic chops which he has proved in several projects that he has great comedic timing.

However, while the premise sounds interesting, the last Looney Tunes live-action/animated hybrid film Space Jam: A New Legacy starring LeBron James didn't do well at the box office and was panned by the critics. The only promising part here is that the film's logline sounds very unique than the other Looney Tunes films and Cena has proved that he can be a great leading actor which could help carry the film along with the Looney Tunes characters. Hopefully, the film will be great as it would be nice to see the Peacemaker star show his acting chops in more high-profile projects.
