Paul Feig Would Have Given Fans A Global Adventure In Ghostbusters 2

As terrible as a sequel to the 2016 Ghostbusters sounds, director Paul Feig actually had pretty big plans for the follow-up to his reboot of the Ghostbusters film series.

Not only did the filmmaker want new ghosts and new characters for his sequel to Ghostbusters, he wanted to take the girls around the globe in an international little romp in his Ghostbuster 2. Speaking in an episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Feig revealed some of the plans he had for his second Ghostbusters movie.

"I definitely wanted us to go to another country," the filmmaker told the publication. "Because when we were doing the press tour, the international press tour, every country the reporters would come with these drawings or artist renderings of that country's ghosts. And every country has these really wild ghost stories and ghost characters that they scare kids with or keep people in line with. I really loved the idea of the Ghostbusters going to like Asia. Yeah, so there's a lot of fun stuff that we could have done. "

Of course, knowing that all the other Ghostbusters movie were all set in New York, Feig taking fans to a global adventure in the follow-up to his science fiction fantasy movie sounds pretty interesting in itself. Not only would it have added new and interesting ghosts to the lexicon of Ghostbusters, it would also have expanded the scope of the film series.

However, because of Ghostbusters's poor critical and commercial performance, we can't tell whether or not Columbia Pictures might actually be interested in a global Ghostbusters 2.

What do you think? Would you have seen a sequel to Ghostbusters?
