Patty Jenkins to Produce Wonder Woman Spinoff Centered on The Amazons

Wonder Woman may be a badass on her own, but let's not forget that she comes from an entire island of badass women. What's interesting is, WB is set to make a spinoff based on the women of Themyscira, and Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins is set to produce.

Talking to Total Film (via Games Radar), Jenkins comments on the spinoff:

"I'm not going to direct it, hopefully… I'm going to try really hard not to. It's not going to be easy. But [WW84 co-writer and former DC Entertainment President and Chief Creative Officer] Geoff Johns and I came up with the story, and we sold the pitch, and we're going to get it going. I'll produce it, for sure."

We don't really know who could be the central character of the film, but I can imagine that fans would want to check in on characters like Hippolyta (Connie Nielsen) and Antiope (Robin Wright). Then again, if they wanted to follow another Amazon character around the same timeline as the DCEU, then I guess it could also be interesting.

No release window has been set for this film yet, and I can only imagine what line of priority WB has for it. I mean, there are still several other films in the works including Black Adam, Flash, and Shazam! 2; I wonder where the Amazons could fit into that slate.

For now, Wonder Woman 1984 is set to come out on Aug. 14.
