Patrick Stewart’s Star Trek Picard Series Set To Premiere Late 2019

There was a whole lot of excitement when CBS All Access announced that it would be working on a new Star Trek series featuring Patrick Stewart's Jean-Luc Picard. The USS Enterprise captain from Star Trek: The Next Generation was both an iconic and beloved character, so the news that Picard would be getting his own show sent Trekkies in an excited frenzy. Now, fans finally have an estimated release schedule for the new show with CBS preparing the series for late 2019.

Trekkies can now set their calendars to the second half of 2019 because CBS is planning to release the new Picard series for streaming a year from now. David Nevins just recently spoke with the attendees and guests of the 46th Annual UBS Global Media and Communications Conference (via The Wrap), and during his speech, CBS Corporation's Chief Creative Officer decided to give away the Picard series' expected release schedule.

"In 2019, it's not one ‘Star Trek,' it's two ‘Star Treks.' ‘Discovery' at the beginning of the year, and Picard will start at the end of the year," Nevins said during his little speech at the conference.

This gives Trekkies a lot to look forward to next year. Fans can now keep themselves busy with the next season of Star Trek: Discovery making its big premiere in January 2019 and then the premiere of Picard's new Star Trek series at the end of the year. Hopefully, there'll be more Star Trek news to come, maybe news on the fourth Star Trek film installment or on the R-Rated Star Trek movie that Quentin Tarantino wanted to make.
