Who is Park Shin-hye in Doctor Slump?
In Doctor Slump, Park Shin-hye plays the role of Nam Ha-neul, a workaholic anesthesiologist who suddenly experiences symptoms of depression due to burnout.
From the start, the role of Park Shin-hye in Doctor Slump is a disciplined and hard-working student. Unlike Yeo Jeong-woo (played by Park Hyung-sik), Ha-neul has to work extra hard.
This is because she wasn't born with a golden spoon. Not to mention, Jeong-woo is naturally intelligent even without working hard. Ha-neul, on the other hand, has dedicated her waking hours to studying.
Because of this, she doesn't have too many friends. She believed that her time studying was most important so she avoided any romantic gestures.
She even stuck to a strict diet just so she could avoid going to the bathroom and have it disturb her time studying.
Why is Ha-Neul in a Slump?
In the present day, Ha-neul has started to experience feelings of depression. She encountered a painful stomachache that led her to collapse in the middle of a busy street.
When she saw an oncoming truck, she welcomed the idea of death just so she could escape her life.
Alarmed by this, she sought the help of a psychiatrist, who told her to take things easy or else she would die.
At first, she was in denial of having depression. But when her abusive professor took things too far, she decided to quit and prioritize her health.
Speaking about her character in Doctor Slump, Shin-hye said:
"I think everyone can experience a slump at least once in their lives. I've also had that experience. As a result, I was swayed by the emotions that the character Ha Neul feels. Personally, I wanted to bring the audience a work that could provide healing through everyday and ordinary story."

Park Shin-hye is a talented actress and singer. She previously starred in two music videos of Lee Seung-hwan, which inspired her to pursue her own music.
