Overwatch: Ashe's Origin Trailer has a Neat Jeff Kaplan Easter Egg

Fresh off the end of the Halloween Terror season, Blizzard has just announced a new hero coming to Overwatch. Ashe is the leader of the Deadlock Gang, and her new origin trailer has a pretty neat (Overwatch creator) Jeff Kaplan Easter Egg in it.

As it turns out, in the Overwatch lore, Kaplan is a canon criminal who is wanted for a 100 million bucks.

Other than being the creator of the game, Kaplan is also the face of the developers and often gives regular updates on what's coming to the game personally. With players not usually fans of changes, Kaplan sometimes becomes the face of the villain, and some blame him for unwanted nerfs and buffs coming to their favorite characters.

All jokes aside though, Kaplan is greatly beloved by the Overwatch community, and his persona when it comes to his developer updates make him seem like an all-around awkward nice guy. With this neat little easter egg in canon, I won't be surprised if fans start demanding that Kaplan becomes a playable character at some point down the line.

For now, Overwatch is gearing up for the release of new character Ashe. Like I said, she's the leader of the infamous Deadlock Gang, and it's implied that she has a history with Jesse McCree. No release date has been set for Ashe, but we could be getting her before the year ends.

Overwatch is now playable for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
