After a long Droughtlander, fans were reunited with Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe), and their thirst for more was finally satisfied. Outlander Season 6 will be pivotal for both Roger (Richard Rankin) and Brianna (Sophie Skelton). Roger is gaining Jamie's respect, according to Rankin in a recent interview.

Outlander Season 6 Sees a Change in Jamie’s Perspective of Roger

Roger joined the men of Fraser's Ridge to save Claire in Outlander Season 5. According to Rankin, Roger's reputation grew as a result of this. When Jamie first came, Rankin said that he thought of Roger as a lightweight, but Roger has proven himself since the rescue.

“I think he’s had it for a long time,” Rankin told Parade. “I think since halfway through Season 5, Jamie’s seen Roger in that [new] light. He’s come to see that Roger’s not the guy that thought he was at first. There’s newfound respect. Obviously, Roger also saved his life [when Jamie was bitten by the poisonous rattlesnake], so I think a lot came with that.”

Outlander Season 6 will also see Roger discovering a new station. He intends to follow in the footsteps of his uncle and become a minister. Roger would never have gravitated toward the church in the twentieth century, but his experience in the 18th century showed him the path.

Gabaldon's sixth book takes place in the years leading up to the American Revolutionary War. Season 6 begins in 1772, just three years before "the shot heard round the world," but the year is most likely 1775. In any case, war is on the horizon.

The sixth installment of the show will be a short one, consisting of only eight episodes. But Maril Davis, the executive producer, has promised that there would be something for everyone.

She said during a PaleyFest interview, according to Parade, that book six is almost as wonderful as the first Outlander novel, which she believes to be her favorite.

Outlander Season 6 premiered Mar. 6 on Starz.
