Things have been heating up in Oshi no Ko, but the brakes have just been hit on the hype train. This is because it was recently announced that Oshi no Ko will go on a one-month hiatus due to the author’s health.
On creator Aka Akasaka’s official Shueisha Twitter account, it was announced that Akasaka took a break and is now back to work. Though because of this, the two titles he is working on will go on hiatus for around a month.
Aka Akasaka’s Two Ongoing Manga Will Go on Hiatus
While Akasaka has gone back to work, most manga chapters are written in advance, so it makes sense that the hiatus will only begin now. After all, both titles that Akasaka writes on are illustrated by other artists.
First, Oshi no Ko is currently on hiatus, with the last proper chapter being released on July 26.
Fans will need to wait a while before Chapter 126 as the manga is set to return in the 42nd issue of Weekly Young Jump.
This means fans can read the next chapter on September 14 via Manga Plus internationally and Shonen Jump+ in Japan.
Meanwhile, Akasaka’s other series Renai Daikou is now also on hiatus.
Unlike Oshi no Ko, this title’s hiatus will end a bit earlier as the next chapter will be released in the 41st Weekly Young Jump issue.
This means the Nishizawa 5mm-drawn manga will return on September 7, 2023.

Illustrator Mengo Yokoyari to Release Oshi no Ko Short Story
Despite the long wait, Oshi no Ko fans will at least be treated to a short story by series illustrator Mengo Yokoyari.
This new short story is divided into four chapters, with the first chapter being available now on Manga Plus.
Yokoyari creating a short story makes sense. After all, before her illustration work in Oshi no Ko, Yokoyari has created several manga, including hit titles like Scum’s Wish and Retort Pouch!
The short story’s first chapter is about Mem-cho’s past. Though it’s not clear if the entire short story will be about her. Fans will have to wait and see in the next chapter.
While the manga has a return date, there’s no word yet on a release date or release window for Oshi no Ko Season 2 which was announced shortly after the first season’s finale.
