The anime’s first season may be over, but Oshi no Ko is still getting a lot of attention. Along with the release of its latest chapter, Oshi no Ko shared the cover art for Volume 12 featuring Frill Shiranui.
Though she might not be one of the series’ primary characters, Frill is a notable supporting character that is involved in some of the storylines involving Ruby Hoshino.
Oshi no Ko’s latest volume cover is the first to feature Frill, and it will be the first new volume release since the anime ended, meaning it will likely be a hot seller.
Oshi no Ko Manga Gets a Boost in Popularity Thanks to the Anime
Even before the anime’s release, the Oshi no Ko manga was already quite popular thanks in large part to its creators.
Written by Aka Akasaka (of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War) and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari (of Scum’s Wish), the manga had a strong following even when it just started. Though its popularity got a boost thanks to the anime.
It’s fair to say that the Oshi no Ko anime was one of the biggest hits of the Spring 2023 season as it made waves thanks to its various memorable and hard-hitting moments.
Given this, it’s no surprise that the manga got a big boost in sales following the anime.
Specifically, the manga had over 12 million copies in circulation as of June 2023.
For reference, the series only had over 5 million copies in circulation back in March 2023. This was one month before the anime’s premiere, meaning circulation more than doubled after the show aired.

Oshi no Ko Volume 12 Reveals Frill Shiranui Cover Art
While fans will need to wait a while for the anime to return, the manga is still going strong.
In fact, the latest chapter drew a lot of attention for its controversial cliffhanger.
And if that’s not enough, the series got a lot of fans buzzing once again thanks to the beautiful Volume 12 cover art featuring Frill Shiranui.
While Frill has also been shown in the anime, most of her appearances are in a school uniform. But this visual features Frill in an eye-catching outfit.
As with previous volume covers, fans are loving the new art, with many praising Mengo Yokoyari’s character design.
Oshi no Ko Volume 12 will be released in Japan on July 19, 2023. Right now, there’s no word yet on an international release date.
