As Oshi no Ko continues to trend all around the world, lots of fans are also beginning to read the manga. Though the Oshi no Ko manga’s ending is on the horizon as Aka Akasaka confirmed that the series’ end has been decided.

Recently, a new interview with series creators Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari was published in Spur magazine. There, the two mentioned some interesting details about the ending.

While there’s still a lot that is expected to happen in the manga, given the trajectory of the story coupled with Akasaka beginning work on another series, Oshi no Ko will likely end sooner rather than later.

Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari teamed up to start Oshi no Ko back in early 2021. And since then, the series has become a major hit. Though its recent surge in popularity is thanks in large part to the anime by Doga Kobo.

Interestingly, Oshi no Ko began while Akasaka’s Kaguya-sama: Love Is War manga series was still ongoing. Though he managed to juggle both series as he is only the writer in Oshi no Ko, with Yokoyari handling illustration duties.

In a recent interview with the two creators, Akasaka and Yokoyari mentioned that the ending is in sight for them.

This also tracks because Akasaka has begun yet another work.

Back in April, Akasaka released a new manga series titled Renai Daikou that’s serialized in Weekly Young Jump.

As Akasaka is essentially retired from manga illustration, he teamed up with artist Nishizawa 5mm for the new manga.

While the two did not mention a date window for the manga’s ending, Akasaka and Yokoyari did reveal some interesting details about the end of the series.

As translated by @sneakyonk, Akasaka and Yokoyari revealed that parts of the ending have already been drafted.

Akasaka then mentioned how he wants to show the “pain of living and despair” in the ending.

While this seems like a setup for a downer ending, Akasaka explained that he wants to depict both “hope and hopelessness” in the series' climax.

Based on this discussion, it seems that Oshi no Ko will have a bittersweet ending, and here’s hoping that it will still be a satisfying one.

The Oshi no Ko manga gets new chapters every week on Manga Plus outside Japan. Meanwhile, the anime will end with Episode 11 next week.
