Oscar Isaac Confirms Dune Reshoots, Compares It to Star Wars

After playing Poe Dameron in Star Wars Oscar Isaac is set to become space royalty in Denis Villenueve's upcoming adaptation of Dune. Though the film had already wrapped, Isaac confirms that the movie is going to have reshoots later this year.

Talking to Deadline, Isaac explains:

"We're going to do some additional shooting in mid August… they're saying in Budapest in Hungary… I saw some things cut together and it just looks amazing. Denis [Villeneuve] is a real artist and it will be exciting to see it come together. It's kind of wild that we're doing some additional shooting a few months before it's supposed to come out, but that happened with Star Wars as well."

We don't know exactly what the nature of the reshoots are, but hopefully it would be safer for the actors to shoot by August. A lot of people were hoping that things would be ‘back to normal' by June, but the way things are looking, we may have to keep dealing with COVID-19 until August.

Then again, reshoots are a regular thing when it comes to these films. While there are some movies that have ‘major' reshoots, I don't think Villneueve's film is in that kind of trouble. I'm just crossing my fingers this one manages to be a critical and commercial success, because we can't have another Blade Runner 2049 in our hands.

Dune is set to hit theaters this coming Dec. 18.
