Considering how things ended between him, Aquaman, and their mother, Queen Atlanna in the first film, it does make you wonder how he was raised to believe that the surface dwellers seek nothing but harm in the undersea world.

While the Aquaman film did not introduce Orvax Marius, who exactly is Orm’s father? Read here to find out more.

Early on in the Aquaman film, Queen Atlanna ran away from her husband-to-be, Orvax, considering that she did not love him. So, instead of falling for a pure Atlantean King, she fell for a human named Tom Curry.

As much as she would have felt more loved and safer raising her family on land, Orvax forced Atlanna to return to Atlantis. The Queen reluctantly returned and ended up bearing Orvax a son, Orm.

After finding out that Atlanna gave birth to her half-breed son (half-human, half-Atlantean) Arthur Curry, Orvax had her banished from Atlantis, leaving him to raise their only son all alone.

Not many details were provided in introducing Orvax fully to DC fans on the big screens, but we do know that he was a ruthless ruler who had the tendency to abuse even his own family for the sake of getting his own way.

The DC comics depicted him to be quite similar, as he had not only haunted the lives of his Atlantean combat forces as their naval commander but even regularly abused his wife right in front of their son.

The Trident of Atlan that Orvax used to wield and claimed to be unbreakable was eventually passed down to Orm, which led his son to become the Ocean Master.

Like father, like son, Orm Marius was initially betrothed to the Xebel Princess Mera. Unfortunately, despite the Princess being trained to make huge sacrifices for her kingdom, marriage was not something she could simply toss away at a moment’s notice.

Realizing how treacherous and incredibly biased Orm was when it comes to surface dwellers and half-breeds like Arthur, Princess Mera was quick to take action in bringing the rightful ruler under the sea herself.

Orm, after all, was raised to believe that his mother had abandoned him, and so, with what’s left from the teachings that the former Atlantean King Orvax had for him, his judgment was clouded.

It was only when Arthur had defeated him in battle and when Atlanna appeared before him that Orm was taken away from the shackles of the past his father held him to.

The Ocean Master aka former King Orm is returning in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom to form an unlikely alliance with his half-brother, Arthur Curry.

Since this going to be a brotherly journey between the half-brothers, there's a high chance we'll get to find out more information about Orm's upbringing under Orvax. Hopefully, the Aquaman sequel treads lightly in these murky waters coming to theaters soon.
