Original Star Wars Lightsaber Pulled From Auction After Authenticity Issue

When fans found out that Luke Skywalker's original lightsaber from the original Star Wars movies was on sale, they immediately started looking at their wallets and seeing if they could afford it. Obviously, this is something only those who are well of can afford but they can always bask in the glory of seeing Luke's lightsaber in their living room so there's no point being pissy about that.

Turns out that this lightsaber has now been pulled from the auction, as reported by The Guardian. Fans raised concern about the lightsaber's authenticity, which is why Profiles in History in Los Angeles has pulled it from the sale to see if this is the real deal. Here is the official statement from Joe Maddalena, the chief executive of the auction house.

"In light of conflicting information regarding the origin of Roger Christian's lightsaber, Profiles in History has decided to withdraw the piece from this auction until Mr Christian can clear up the inconsistencies that have been brought to our attention."

Apparently, this lightsaber was described as one of the five original lightsabers used by Mark Hamill, according to Roger Christian. Since Christian designed this iconic fantasy weapon, this seemed to be legitimate but it looks like some research needs to be done. Christian has yet to release a statement about the item's legitimacy.

No release date for the item's return to the auction has been given. At the least, Star Wars: Episode IX will be coming out on December 20, 2019.
