Original She-Ra Creator Takes On Fans Criticizing The Character’s Redesign

Earlier this week, fans got to see the new character design for Dreamwork's She-Ra and the Princesses of Power and while some fans loved the updated 80's anime-esque look the show got, a slew of others have been flooding the internet with complaints about how She-Ra's redesign just isn't "sexy enough."

Now, J. Michael Straczynski, one of the original co-creators of She-Ra, has decided to give these critics a piece of his mind. Though some fans think that the newest redesign of She-Ra doesn't match with the idealized version of a woman that the original used to do, Straczynski says that he and his team never wrote She-Ra as "the ideal woman."

"I don't think that phrase appeared anywhere in the bible we wrote, and certainly never in our discussions. We spoke, and wrote of, and considered here a warrior, first and foremost," the She-Ra creator explained.

It's such a shame how so many don't understand that She-Ra is supposed to be a warrior above all else. Some have even been complaining about how muscled the new She-Ra's arms look and how her breasts seem small – comments that seem so disappointing in this day and age where society is supposed to have progressed.

Still, it's pretty comforting to know that there are a lot of others out there who love She-Ra's new updated look with so many creating their own original art based on the redesign.

We definitely can't wait to see She-Ra and the Princesses of Power when it hits Netflix on November 26 this year.
