Original Darth Maul Ray Park Teases a Role in The Mandalorian Season 2

With Star Wars: The Clone Wars nearing its end, this seems to be the official farewell for beloved villain Darth Maul. The character dies in a battle against Obi-Wan Kenobi during Rebels (spoilers?) so expecting any more appearances from him will feel gratuitous at this point. Even with all of that, original Darth Maul actor Ray Park has teased some sort of role for The Mandalorian Season 2, and fans are eating it up.

Anyone who has seen Park's motion-capture work for Maul knows that the actor is still in great shape so it will be interesting to see what LucasFilm has planned for Park. His tease below shows the Sith logo while Park himself commented with "THIS IS THE WAY," the new iconic catchphrase from the hit show. Why they didn't use it in the Disney Star Wars movies is beyond me.

Since Darth Maul is dead, we can't expect to see Park reprise that role for The Mandalorian Season 2. There's a good chance that he will provide some very good stunt work and nothing more, though Star Wars has always been a franchise filled with surprises. If Maul were to come back, expect it to be a hologram or flashback since bringing him back would just feel exploitative.

Now that the Darksaber is in play, we're expecting to see a lot of lightsaber battles in The Mandalorian Season 2. We doubt that the helmet-wearing protagonist will be wielding the weapon but this series is filled with surprises. There's definite excitement for what comes next and we can't wait to see what role Ray Park has, assuming he isn't trolling.

The Mandalorian Season 2 has no release date, as of this writing. The Mandalorian Season 1 can now be streamed on Disney+.
