Being the lead star of the One Piece live-action series means being caught up on the source material but Iñaki Godoy admits he also tried watching other anime. However, the Monkey D. Luffy actor revealed that he didn't like Chainsaw Man as much as most people for a relatable reason.

One Piece Actor Iñaki Godoy Admits He Couldn't Get Into Chainsaw Man

Aside from One Piece, Chainsaw Man is one of the most popular anime out there right now. The popularity stems from the shock factor and although most people are loving the violence, Iñaki Godoy admitted it was too much for him.

Godoy recently joined the rest of the One Piece cast in an interview with Collider and he revealed that he is an anime newbie.

"Before doing One Piece, I didn't really watch a lot of anime," Godoy confessed. "After filming One Piece, I did get into anime more."

Not surprisingly, Eiichiro Oda's work is his first love and although he tried watching other anime, it didn't work out as well as he hoped.

"Honestly, One Piece is my thing," Godoy stated.

"I tried Chainsaw Man, I think it's really cool, but it's a little too violent for me," he revealed.

We're truly not surprised considering that Chainsaw Man might not be the best introduction into the anime because of the sheer violence in the story. Still, we're proud of Godoy for trying and it looks like he found other shows that fit his taste better.

"I’m starting Demon Slayer right now, I was watching that on the airplane, and I really, really loved the first episode," he shared.

"I thought it was so good. So, I think I'm gonna stick with Demon Slayer and One Piece for a while," Godoy continued.

"I think it's gonna take me some time. Attack on Titan I’ve heard is great!" he concluded.

One Piece will star Iñaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Vinsmoke Sanji.

One Piece will premiere on Netflix on August 31, 2023.
