One Piece’s next episode might just be the most anticipated one yet as it will finally feature the debut of Luffy’s next gear. Ahead of its broadcast, One Piece essentially spoiled Luffy’s Gear 5 in a trailer that played in Shinjuku Station in Tokyo.

This new video is different from the Toei Animation trailer as instead of showing footage from the next episode, the video is more of a tribute to the manga as it features Luffy’s various gear forms.

Luffy’s Gear 5 transformation is one of the biggest events of One Piece in the last couple of years. While Luffy’s new form debuts are always a big deal, this one is even more so as it pushes his power level insanely highly.

What’s more, it has plot implications that will likely be explored in the ongoing final arc which has yet to reveal some big mysteries about the series' world.

It has been a year since Gear 5 debuted in the manga, but it will only make its debut in the anime in the highly anticipated next episode. But at this point, pretty much every anime-only fan has seen glimpses of it.

Try as you might, avoiding any mention or showcase of Luffy’s Gear 5 form is next to impossible as it has been used in many promotional materials and merch. It was even used in the main visual and trailer for One Piece Day 2023.

Despite essentially being the most spoiled moment in the anime, even anime-only fans should still be excited about it as it promises to be one of the highlight moments of the Wano Country arc.

To further drum up hype for the moment, a special trailer was shown at Shinjuku Station, one of the biggest train stations in Tokyo.

This new trailer shows Luffy’s various gear forms over the years, starting from Gear 2 up to Gear 5. You can check it out here:

Instead of showing just glimpses of the form, Gear 5 is in full display during the end of the trailer, albeit in its manga form.

At least, even if it’s a spoiler, the trailer didn’t give a full view of Luffy’s Gear 5 in the anime.

You can watch the debut of Gear 5 in One Piece Episode 1071 which will be released this weekend.
