One Piece Chapter 1089 Recap
The title of One Piece Chapter 1089 is Hostage Situation, and it features a cover request of a cow giving Nami a cup of hot milk as she draws sea charts at night.
The news of Garp vanishing at Hachinosu reached Windmill Village, but the mayor himself refused to accept such information, noting how Garp was a man of many legends. Also, the villagers can’t help but worry about Luffy.
Six days after the vanishing of the Lulusia Kingdom, a massive earthquake happened that caused destruction on a vast, worldwide scale, including the Grand Line, the East, West, North, and South Blue.
The earthquake had no parallel recorded history, and its epicenter was impossible to pinpoint, making it a most anomalous seismic event.
In addition, it also caused the worldwide sea level to rise by about one meter. It also triggered the loss of several beaches as well as several islands around the world, much to everyone’s confusion.
A ship is sent to observe the massive hole that replaced the land where the Lulusia Kingdom once stood. There are only waterfalls pouring into the hole, and there’s no sign that the hole will be filled up.
Meanwhile, news of the rising water levels around the world reached the nation-sized fleet of Marines as they closed in on Egghead Island.
This fleet has far outclassed even a buster call, for it consists of a group of 100 ships, including 20 massive battleships, with a total crew of 30,000 sailors.
The fleet is also led by a group of nine vice admirals, as well as Kizaru, who is in the middle of a Den Den Mushi call with Sentomaru while eating a bowl of ramen.
Sentomaru threatens Kizaru that he will launch an attack if they don’t stop attacking their sea weapons. He also can’t believe that the Marines will come for Dr. Vegapunk’s life.
In return, Kizaru mocks Sentomaru, noting how Dr. Vegapunk committed a grave crime after studying the Void Century.
He even says he doesn’t want to battle against Dr. Vegapunk either, but Rob Lucci and his cohorts have failed their mission, to which Sentomaru adds that it’s because of the Straw Hat Pirates.
On a battleship, St. Jaygarcia Saturn, the Godhead of Defense and one of the Five Elders, asks Vice Admiral Doberman not to let anyone know about his presence.
He reads the title of the news article Morgans’ wrote and proceeds to ask Doberman the truth behind it. Doberman replies that they haven’t received the complete report from CP0 yet.
And because Sentomaru is still defending the island, Doberman assumes that Labophase is still hosting Dr. Vegapunk and his satellites, the four seraphims, the Straw Hats, as well as the agents in the lead force, Rob Lucci, Kaku, and Stussy from CP0.
He also assumes that Sentomaru and his Pacifista MK III units locked up the rank-and-file Cipher Pol agents in Fabriophase.
Moreover, Doberman reports that the Frontier Dome’s barrier status is still at 100 percent.
He also claims that the research staff and technicians of the island were evacuated on ships yesterday, but St. Saturn wants Doberman to sink them all.
Doberman also reveals the presence of Jewelry Bonney on the island, but St. Saturn is not worried about her.
Afterward, Kizaru receives a report about a call coming from Egghead Island, which was also being wiretapped in Sacred Marijoa.
York reveals herself as the caller, and she complains about why she was targeted as well on the island, even after she was the one who told the Five Elders about the betrayal of Dr. Vegapunk’s satellites.
Mars replies that York is no different than Vegapunk, to which York replies that she doesn’t have any interest in the Void Century.
Nusjuro changes the topic, asking York about the CP0 and the Straw Hats, to which York replies that the seraphims are there, including the marine fleet that surrounds the island.
Ju Peter informs York that they have changed their minds, and he asks York if she was able to create the Mother Flame.
York confirms that the power plant that can create the Mother Flame is on the island, allowing her to negotiate with the Five Elders.
York wants them to promise not to kill her, as well as to make her a celestial dragon, in exchange for the Mother Flame.
The Elders agreed with York’s demands, but York starts crying and yelling at the Five Elders to save her before Luffy kills her, much to the surprise of the Elders and Kizaru.
As it turns out, the Straw Hats, including Dr. Vegapunk and his satellites, Rob Lucci, and Jewelry Bonney, were holding York hostage!
