Who Plays Annie Kowtok in True Detective: Night Country?
Nivi Pedersen is a Greenlandic actress and director living in Nuuk, Greenland.
Nivi's career in film began with acting back in 2014 when she starred in the Greenlandic horror film, Unnuap Taarnerpaaffiani.
Since then, she has been featured in more Greenlandic film productions such as The Last Walk (2016), Kiinappalik (2021), and Ajornavianngilatit (2021).
Her international acting career, on the other hand, began in 2020 when she came onto the Swedish/Icelandic TV series Thin Ice to play Kimmernaq for seven episodes.

In the same year, she was awarded the Moon Jury Award at imagineNATIVE for her documentary titled Pilluarneq Ersigiunnaarpara.
Additionally, Nivi's short film in 2021, UPDATED, won an Audience Choice Award at the Astrophobia Film Festival.

What Happened to Annie Kowtok in the HBO Series?
The main mystery meat in True Detective Season 4 revolves around a group of researchers who disappeared out of nowhere from their Alaskan facility.
While the series minces the key information and clues regarding their whereabouts, especially those related to the supernatural side of the story, an old case file comes into view for Detective Liz Danvers.
The old murder case was of a young girl named Annie (aka Nivi Pedersen's Annie K role). Annie K was a young Inupiaq activist who was stabbed 32 times with her tongue dismembered from her body.
Somehow, her disappearance is closely connected to how the phenomenon on the researchers happened in the blink of an eye—the discovery of a creature lurking beneath the ice.
It is worth mentioning that while the reason behind her death remains unknown, the spiral symbol on her back is the same symbol that was tattooed on the foreheads of the frozen researchers.
