Nintendo Officially Debunks Bowsette, Says Only Toadette Can Wear Super Crown

Does anyone remember Bowsette? One of the weirder internet kinks of 2018? For those unaware, Bowsette was a hot blonde version of Bowser who was supposedly turned this way while wearing Toadette's Super Crown. Since the Super Crown turned her to Peachette in New Super Marios Bros. U Deluxe for the Switch, a lot of fans experimented with their favorite anthropomorphic characters wearing said crown, with the Bowsette art becoming the most famous. Maybe infamous depending on who you ask.

Well, thanks to the game's official site, we now know that the Super Crown only works on Toadette and no one else. The character's biography states this, saying that it works for the character but not on anyone else, with said description even apologizing to Luigi, who may have wanted to try it out. If we're being honest though, they were apologizing to Bowsette fans.

Honestly, none of this really matters since Bowsette was never officially canon to begin with and this will not stop fans from making art with the character. She is a hottie, let's be honest, though it seems like the character's popularity in 2019 is fading. At least 2018's meme culture was big thanks to her.

Bowsette may no longer be canon but New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe for Switch (yeesh) is looking like a promising port of the Wii U game. It will have four player co-op and includes the fantastic New Luigi U expansion, which some people preferred over the main game.

New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe comes out on January 11.
