Nicolas Cage finally made his live-action appearance as Superman when he appeared for a cameo in the multiverse sequence of The Flash which made a lot of fans delighted despite already being rumored in the weeks leading to its release.

This is a full-circle moment for the Oscar winner since he was attached to play the Man of Steel in the canceled project Superman Lives back in the late 90s and the actor's costume test photos were leaked years which made fans wonder about what his take on Superman would have looked like.

Even if his appearance in the recent DCEU film was just for a quick moment, it was a wish fulfillment for fans and the people involved in the canceled project such as Kevin Smith, who publicly praised the movie.

Now, for the first time since the film's release, the Oscar winner has finally addressed his celebrated cameo.

Speaking with USA Today, Cage opened up about his surprise cameo appearance as Superman in The Flash where he expressed his excitement about finally getting able to play the role in live-action even if it's for a short screen time.

He said, "Well, I was glad I didn’t blink. For me, it was the feeling of being actualized. Even that look for that particular character, finally seeing it on screen, was satisfying. But as I said, it’s quick."

The Oscar-winning actor also explained he would have played the Man of Steel in the canceled movie which would be similar to his performance in the 1998 film City of Angels which he starred with Meg Ryan.

"If you really wanted to know what I was going do with that character, look at my performance in City of Angels. I was supposed (to play) Clark Kent after that (in Superman Lives), and I was already developing this alien otherness playing this angel," he added.

"That is a perfect example of the tonality you would’ve gotten for Kal-El and for Clark Kent: Clark would’ve been a little more amusing but Kal-El (had) the sensitivity and the goodness and the vulnerability and all those feelings that were kind of angelic and also terrifying."

Cage previously voiced Superman in the 2018 animated film Teen Titans Go! To the Movies where the character also made a cameo appearance.

Despite only appearing for a very short amount of time, it sounds like he was still enthusiastic that he was given the opportunity to finally play the role in live-action and give the audience an overview of what Superman Lives may have looked like.

After all, before the film came to fruition, no one would ever think that we will ever see Cage play Superman in live-action for real and The Flash's exploration of the multiverse certainly made it possible to turn it into reality.
