Lucasfilm's done such a great job at keeping Star Wars: Episode IX's secrets under wraps, fans have been resorting to cooking all sorts of theories about the third and final entry in the studio's sequel trilogy. One of the latest theories that's made its way online is the outrage claim that Rey (Daisy Ridley) might have actually killed her own parents in Jakku.
Knowing how Rey has been seen showcasing incredible power with the force in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, fans have started wondering whether Rey's connection with the force could have begun manifesting in her when she was a girl. A new theory posted on Reddit suggests that Rey might have actually accidentally murdered her parents during her years as a child on Jakku.
"Was just watching TLJ last night and caught a line I hadn't seen anyone mentions, Kylo talking about Rey's parents: ‘they're dead in a paupers' grave in the Jakku dessert,'" fromanuneasysea explained in the post.
According to the Redditor, it's a bit interesting how Kylo Ren(Adam Driver) knows how Rey's parents are both dead, because, to the Jakku orphan, her last memory of her parents was of them flying away in a ship away from her.
"Well, maybe one of the big twists in Episode IX is that Rey pulled that ship down with the Force (a theory I have seen elsewhere, not my original idea) - she blocked it out, but now that she has met Kylo, she realizes she also killed her parents and is not so different than him," the fan continues. "This is part of what brings them closer in TLJ, but we are not made privy to this detail of their memory exchange."
It's an interesting theory. While it seems a little bit excessive, it isn't entirely impossible for Rey to have pulled her parents' ship from the sky, accidentally killing her family when she was a child. The theory's been pretty popular among fans too - so far the fan theory has been 91% upvoted on Reddit and we're expecting higher numbers as the post stays on throughout the week.
