New Pokemon MOBA Game Announced for Nintendo Switch and Mobile Devices

If you were hoping for Diamond and Pearl Pokemon remakes, you are in for bad news. We didn't even get the Let's Go! Johto games that were seemingly teased during last week's event. Instead, The Pokemon Company and Tencent have announced a MOBA game called Pokemon Unite, which will be coming to Nintendo Switch and mobile devices in the near future.

While the game looks like a competent enough MOBA with decent graphics, it was sort of a disappointment to wait a whole week just to get another free-to-play Pokemon game. Though many fans were dreading a Pokemon Let's Go! Johto announcement, this was clearly worse than that. Nothing against MOBA titles like League of Legends but this kind of game isn't something Pokemon fans should wait a week for.

Like most mobile MOBA games, Pokemon Unite is a free-to-play title with microtransactions, or as Nintendo likes to call them, free-to-start games. That's actually an honest description for these kinds of titles since they start free but as the game goes on, fans will be tempted to pay for some bonuses. This is probably what's going to happen to Pokemon Unite, especially with Tencent involved, so here's hoping that it'll be fun.

As of this writing, no release date for Pokemon Unite has been announced. More news on that title will be released in the near future. All we know is that the game will be coming to Nintendo Switch and mobile devices as a free-to-start game.
