New Marvel Rumors Say Marvel Has Begun Caving in to Fans Against Captain Marvel

Marvel might be preparing Brie Larson for her return as Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel 2, however, there is a number of fans petitioning for the studio to replace the Academy Award-winning actress as the Marvel Cinematic Universe's strongest Avenger.

Sure, there might have been a lot of hype when Marvel first cast Larson as Carol Danvers, but fans were disappointed with the way the actress handled the promotional campaign for Captain Marvel. During interviews, Larson came off as abrasive, blunt, and defensive – traits that don't really seem that appealing during interviews for movies like Captain Marvel.

There have been a number of petitions to have Larson replaced as Captain Marvel, with the most recent one requesting Larson to resign from the role and give the part to a woman of color.

Now, a new report by Showbiz Cheat Sheet suggests that Marvel has begun actively listening to the fanbase. However, instead of caving in to fans by having Captain Marvel replaced, the site reports that Marvel is trying to give Larson some support by adding even more members of the MCU in the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel.

While petitions to have Larson replaced have reached more than 30,00 signatures or so, the site says that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige remains a major fan of Larson, even though he feels like the actress needs a bit of help with the upcoming sequel.

This report might come as a surprise to fans. This latest update comes after rumors have begun suggesting that Marvel may actually want Larson as the co-director of Captain Marvel 2. So which report do we believe in? Let's wait and see what comes out as the truth.

Phase 4 of the MCU begins when Black Widow premieres on May 1, 2020.
