New Marvel Fan Theory Reveals Why Captain America Barely Lifted Mjolnir

Fans have been wondering why Captain America was unable to lift Thor's hammer in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Interestingly, a new fan theory possibly revealed why Steve Rogers was not worthy of Mjolnir.

In Age of Ultron, Steve tried to remove the hammer from the coffee table. Although Mjolnir budged slightly, it was ultimately too heavy for Cap. The incident has been a mystery for Marvel fans until a Reddit post humorously revealed that Steve has somehow broken the law enough times to be considered unworthy by Thor's hammer.

The post shows Steve not wearing the mandatory helmet or face shield while riding a motorcycle in New York, which makes him something of a lawbreaker. Although this should explain why he didn't want to sign the Sokovia Accords, one comment also pointed out that the petty offense made Mjolnir decide Cap was not worthy.

Scofflaw Steve Rogers ignores mandatory helmet and face shield laws in New York. With such a disregard for authority, is it any wonder he didn't sign the Sokovia Accords?

"Mjolnir's like 'Great track record dude! Heart of gol- YOU DIDN'T WEAR YOUR HELMET NO CAN DO MR AMERICA,'" the comment read.

It's certainly a fair point but there was probably another reason why Captain America was unable to lift Thor's hammer. Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon has previously teased on the possibility that Steve could have easily wielded Mjolnir but simply chose not to do so.

Fans who missed that amazing moment when Cap almost lifted the hammer can see Age of Ultron as well as the other 19 Marvel films on IMAX. Marvel Studios is officially bringing all 20 MCU movies back to the theaters in celebration of its 10 year anniversary.

The Marvel films will be screening in selected AMC Theaters starting August 30 to September 6.
