New Magic: The Gathering Arena Video Reveals Jumpstart Event

Magic: The Gathering Arena is kicking off the month-long Jumpstart event this week, and Wizards of the Coast recently released a new video that reveals how the upcoming supplemental MTG booster set is played on the free-to-play digital card game. You can watch the video above.

Jumpstart lets players shuffle up cards from two packs each featuring one of the forty themes available in the set, so players don't have to spend time on deck-building and just play right away. In the video, MTG commentator and streamer AliasV shows how you can combine two different themes (one from each 20-card booster) into one deck and play right away. She also confirms that the cards you get in the Jumpstart events will be yours to keep, but the vdieo doesn't reveal the price of the entry fee.

Currently there are no plans to make Jumpstart packs or decks purchasable in the MTG Arena store, so the cards can only be acquired from playing in the event, or redeeming in Wildcards.

Jumpstart is set to launch on Magic: The Gathering Arena on July 16, one day after the paper release of the product. Jumpstart events in Arena will run until august 16.

We will be livestreaming Jumpstart games at MTG Rocks later this week.
