It has been over a year since its initial reveal, and finally, The Irregular at Magic High School anime sequel is confirmed to be a TV series, effectively making it the show’s third season.
The upcoming The Irregular at Magic High School anime series got a new trailer recently which was released on the official Aniplex YouTube channel.
While the new trailer doesn’t feature actual footage, its release was accompanied by confirmation of the show’s cast, staff, and returning studio.
Plus, a new teaser visual was also released featuring the show’s three main characters.
The Irregular at Magic High School Returns With Season 3
The Irregular at Magic High School began as a web novel series which was soon picked up and published in a light novel format, though the series truly became popular after the anime adaptation was released.
Renowned anime studio Madhouse was in charge of the 26-episode first season. And while it became quite popular, it took six years until the anime got a second season.
Season 2 of the anime was animated by studio Eight Bit and it premiered in October 2020. This long-awaited follow-up adapts the light novel’s Visitor Arc, and it consisted of 13 episodes.
Aside from these two TV anime seasons, The Irregular at Magic High School also got other projects, including a spinoff series as well as two movies.
In January 2022, a proper sequel to the main anime story was announced. But at the time, it wasn’t clear if it was going to be another movie or a new season.
Now, it turns out that the sequel is a new season for the show.

New Irregular at Magic High School Anime Gets Trailer
The sequel being a proper anime season was revealed alongside a new trailer that features character art of Tatsuya Shiba, Miyuki Shiba, and Minami Sakurai. These three also appear in the new teaser visual for the anime.
It’s also confirmed that the previous voice actors of the anime will return. These include Yuuichi Nakamura (Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen), Saori Hayami (Yor in Spy x Family), and Kiyono Yasuno (Megumi in Saekano).
Also returning for the new season is studio Eight Bit along with staff members such as director Jimmy Stone and music composer Taku Iwasaki.
The new Irregular at Magic High School anime series will be released in 2024.
Currently, there’s no word yet on a release window for the show.
