New Details About EA’s Cancelled Open-World Star Wars Game Revealed

Earlier today word came out that EA decided to ax the mysterious open-world Star Wars game that it had inherited from Visceral Games' shutdown, disappointing Star Wars gamers everywhere online. Though EA has refused to comment on the matter after Kotaku shed light on the cancellation, new details about the mysterious Star Wars game have managed to surface, and it sounds like the project could have been pretty promising.

After breaking the news about the cancellation of EA's open-world Star Wars game, Kotaku writer Jason Schreier has updated his report to include descriptions of the game from two anonymous sources who have come forward to provide details about the game. According to the new update, EA's open-world game was going to include different planets that gamers could explore without any time limit.

Not only would the game allow players to roam around freely, but it would also feature old and new characters from Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away while it offered gamers the opportunity to take on the role of a bounty hunter traveling across the galaxy.

The project was codenamed Orca, and word had it that the game would balance the edge of both new and familiar elements of the Star Wars franchise. Though the storyline still remains a mystery, these new details only heighten the disappointment that fans feel over the canceled game. Open-world Star Wars video game with diverse planets and appearances by old and new Star Wars favorites? What a wasted opportunity for EA. It's such a shame that the game never came to be.
