New Code Geass Anime Finally Releases Its First Trailer

Bandai Namco

It's been a long time since Code Geass ended its two-season run but the beloved anime franchise is making a comeback.

The trailer for Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection, as shown above, features some new characters as well as the return of Lelouch's badass masked alter-ego, Zero. Only a few plot details for the feature film have been released so far, but it was reported that the third installment will follow after the story of Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2. It looks like the anime will use the recent imagining of the franchise's second season. Lelouch is expected to return in the new film so we'll probably find out how he actually lived after the ending of R2.

It looks like Lelouch will be up against a new villain in the film. He probably has a Geass power that we haven't seen in the series yet. Code Geass remains my top most favorite anime series ever, and I'm excited to watch the next chapter of this awesome anime. Hopefully, the feature film will open up a new story for a third season.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection is set to release in Japanese theaters on February 9, 2019. There's still no U.S. theatrical release planned for the film.
