Netizens Are Bashing Star Wars For Its Twitter Poll

There's a lot of Star Wars hype now that the first official teaser trailer for Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker's is finally out and Star Wars fans are expecting a lot more news to come at the 2019 Star Wars Celebration in Chicago.

Trying to add to the high and join in on the fun, the official Star Wars decided to post a new Star Wars poll asking what would seem to be an innocent question – if you were part of the Star Wars universe, what side would you be on?

While it would seem playful enough asking whether fans would rather join the Rebellion/ Resistance or march together with the Galactic Empire/ First Order, a lot of netizens found the question rather silly, pointing out that no one would actually want to join an organization that reflects real-life fascist regimes.

A lot of fans on Twitter have been pointing out that the poll was made in poor taste, especially in this political climate where violence can be found in so many different parts of the world.

Check out some of the Tweets down below:

True, the question might not be appropriate in this day and age knowing that the First Order/ Empire is basically a fascist regime, but the Star Wars Twitter account was obviously just trying to be playful.

There's certainly a lot of Star Wars hype right now. Star Wars Celebration 2019 is at its peak and while the panel for Star Wars: Episode IX is already done, there's still a lot to look forward to with panels for Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set for release on December 20, 2019.
