Netflix's Death Note is Getting A Sequel

A sequel to Netflix's 2017 live-action Death Note film is getting a sequel.

Although Netflix didn't officially make a big announcement for the sequel, it was confirmed in a report from THR about the future of Netflix's blockbuster. Despite the controversial release of Netflix's first Death Note film last year, it was revealed that the streaming giant is developing a sequel for it.

"Among properties it already owns, Netflix is developing a sequel to 2017's horror-thriller Death Note, which Sarandos has called a "sizable" success, with Greg Russo writing the script."

There's still no confirmation yet if Adam Wingard will return to direct. Back in August 2017, Wingard told Heat Vision that Netflix wanted to make two more films if enough people watch the first one."There are definitely lots of places to go, and we know generally where we would take it. Hopefully, people will watch it and Netflix will order a sequel. They definitely are ready to. They just need people to watch it."

Netflix's first Death Note film left with a cliffhanger, with Light having escaped L's chase, only to be discovered by his cop father, James. L also finds out a way to take his revenge against Light when he saw a Death Note page left by Light's girlfriend, Mia. The sequel will probably provide answers to what L would do next.
