In their tweet, Netflix also confirmed that the anime will be made by Science SARU, the notable anime studio that’s best known for animating director Masaaki Yuasa's films.

Aside from anime, Science SARU has also worked on several western properties.

For instance, the studio animated an episode of Adventure Time. They also contributed two short films to the Star Wars: Visions anthology series.

In a statement by director Edgar Wright to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming Scott Pilgrim show will be an “epic new adventure,” meaning the anime should have a new story. Though it’ll be interesting to see if it ties up directly to the film.
