The title of My Hero Academia Chapter 408 is The Eyes Tell All!, and it starts with a narration about how All For One named his brother Yoichi with the kanji characters for “bestow” and "one," because his little brother was the very first thing given to him in life.
It’s been two months since Yoichi walked away from All for One. The latter followed Yoichi, as well as his rescuer Kudo, down in the sewers to confront the resistance.
He used a spatial distortion meta ability to kill Yoichi, leaving nothing behind but his left hand.
As Kudo was about to escape, All For One locked eyes with him, but the sight of the young man was never reflected in the villain’s eyes.
Since birth, there’s been no shine in All For One’s eyes, as if they were clouded by thin membranes, after all.
Later, as All For One looks at Yoichi’s hand, he realizes that the meta ability he thought he granted him is gone.
He gave Yoichi power despite the latter’s insistent refusal to accept that which had been stolen from others or used to force others into servitude.
All For One monologues that his own power confirms that there’s no meta ability left on Yoichi.
He used to wonder if he’d somehow stolen Yoichi’s actual power when he was too young to be aware of it, but further examination showed that he did have one insignificant nonfunctioning factor that his own power couldn’t even recognize as a meta ability.
Elsewhere, Kudo tells his resistance partner Bruce to give him the results of his checkup, despite the latter’s insistent curiosity about the day when All For One gave them a thrashing.
Bruce wants to find out if All For One managed to touch Kudo since the latter mentioned something about his body feeling off. He also said that Kudo has two factors in him: his original one and some kind of uniformed dud.
It's almost like Yoichi’s will is within Kudo, which All For One also thought might be the case. All For One also thinks that the meta ability he granted Yoichi was essentially absorbed by his own to make up for what it lacked.
Apparently, Yoichi has the ability to both give and take, which could have been the kindest, most charitable power the world’s ever known.
As time goes by, All For One continues the hunt for Yoichi’s meta ability, only to let it slip through his grasp over and over again.
All For One constantly blames Kudo for everything that happened, despite eliminating all of Kudo’s bloodline, including every woman and child he’d been close to.
In the present, Bakugo’s eyes reminded All For One of Kudo’s willful resolve that has crossed time and space to thwart All For One’s plans. He plans to forcibly warp Bakugo since he doesn’t want to shrink further.
Most importantly, All For One needs to save all of his remaining strength to succeed in executing the transfer with Shigaraki.
However, he changes his mind since he believes that killing Bakugo, reaching his goal, and executing the transfer are one and the same.
Suddenly, All For One uses Omni-Factor Unleash: All For One Goal, activating all of the quirk factors in his body.
All Might assumes that All For One intends to claim victory with a single burst of a massive energy ball to fuel his propulsion despite the consequences, so he screams at Bakugo to dodge it.
Before the chapter ends, Bakugo braves the impending destruction, hoping to find a way to counter All For One’s massive attack.
