The title of My Hero Academia Chapter 398 is Toshinori Yagi: Rising Origin, and it begins with a blast from the past when a quirkless yet strong-willed All Might pleads with Nana Shimura to take him in as her disciple.

All Might is using all of his tricks to overwhelm All For One, including a flying object that came from his car.

This flying object turns out to be All Might’s Super Acid Injection: Pinky, and he managed to thrust it into All For One’s stomach.

All Might remarks that the acid will continue to corrode All Might from the inside out even though he is constantly rewinding, much to All For One’s anger.

He even mocks All For One, asking him who’s the trash between them now.

In a short flashback, a young All Might (Toshinori Yagi) begs Nana Shimura to allow him to help.

But Nana refuses, saying that Toshinori has no chance since he doesn’t have a quirk, so he needs to take his pipe and protect his loved ones instead.

Toshinori reveals that he doesn’t have any loved ones left following their deaths a long time ago, but this doesn’t change Nana’s decision.

She believes that Toshinori will only seek revenge on his enemies, given his situation.

On the contrary, Toshinori argues that he just can’t take it anymore, knowing how criminals get rewarded for their actions and how a victim’s sorrow grows into a blind rage.

He notices that All For One is a bit younger thanks to the effect of the pinky acid.

To remove the pinky acid, All For One had to constantly injure himself with his quirks, so the more damage he takes, the faster he is forced to rewind, much to All Might’s delight.

All Might laughs as he looks back on his life’s memories before ordering Hercules to unleash all of his support items like the Uravity Thruster, Ingenium, and Maximum Output into his armor.

He believes that he can win after feeling how good it is to help everyone.

At that moment, All Might’s determination reaches Deku, who is still in the middle of fighting with Shigaraki.
